Miami, Key West and Orlando

Hi,

We have booked flights for October and are going on a mini road trip for six nights. We fly in to Miami and plan to spend two nights here then head down to Key West before heading up the West Coast and accross to Orlando.

Does anyone have any must see places that we should go to? And also any good suggestions for hotels?

This will be our first time in the South Florida area so any tips or advice would be appreciated. <:widegrin

Hi Angela,

I stayed at Banana Bay at Marathon, about half way down the keys and it was very good. I believe there is also one in Key West http://www.bananabay.com/

Coming Up the West Coast, we always used to stay at Ft Myers Beach, Estero Island, we stay in a condo at either the Gullwing or Pointe Estero. Both of these hotels are owned by the same company. http://www.gullwingfl.com/accommodations and http://www.pointeestero.com/ both of the properties have condo's right on the beach and are very comfortable. They have the most enormous jacuzzi's in the bathrooms.

We stopped off at the state park on Windley Key which has quite a few examples of fossils from where they were quarrying to do with the railway. Not a huge place but very attractive walks and interesting to see the fossils.
