We usually have a bit of a lunchtime 'do' at school for any member of staff who is leaving, and today was to be our goodbye lunch for a young teacher who is off to pastures new. So imagine my surprise when I walked into the staffroom to be greeted by all the staff with 'Happy Birthday!' They took me completely by surprise - my 'special' birthday is in August and this year is one I've been dreading.
I was presented with two huge bouquets of roses, a lovely necklace and earrings from M and S, plus a nice gift card to spend there when I am ready.
I was quite overcome!
Isn't it nice when an ordinary day turns into something extraordinary and unexpected?:)
And to cap it all, my naughtiest little boy who has often tried my patience to the absolute limit, brought me in a thank you card and present after school - bless him! And yes, I shall miss this little tinker, who despite being nagged for being a wriggler who interrupts my every sentence (and tells me what to do!), often comes and slips his hand into mine.
