and it don't seem a day too long!'
Wonder how many of you remember this old song? 40 years seemed a lifetime away when I used to hear it sung as child - not that I remember the original Music Hall singers of 'My Dear Old Dutch' as I am WAY too young (!).
But I can hardly believe that I met my husband 40 years ago today.
A cause for celebration, we feel, in this age of short relationships and quickie divorces.<:cheer
Not sure if he would feel it is WAY too long, but I know that, given the chance, I would do it all over again.:<wink

Wow that is some time together, well done you two.
Colin and i have been married 34 years this September and he keeps telling me lifers don't serve the whole sentence so he dosent understand how he didn't get away.
(Just shows he loves me really) I always tell him he is a special case and i am still trying to reform him. <<wink

Thank you all for your kind thoughts.
Mary, I had a little chuckle at your post - funny, we were thinking the same thing - 40 years and no time off for good behaviour!
<:doglol
We've had a lovely day. Went out for Sunday lunch at a lovely little place just outside Midhurst, just the two of us. It was raining early this morning but by midday it was sunshine and blue skies.
But its back to the grindstone now, answering emails.

Glad you had a lovely day Ellie. It is nice just to get out sometimes.
Thats why i love it in Florida because we go out most nights for a meal and it is so nice to just chill out, no telly, no laptop for the evening. I don't seem to nag as much either so he tells me <:lol

Congratulations Ellie and best wishes for the next 40 years and beyond.
I first went out with Stuart in February 1973 but as we lived next door to each other we have know each other for longer than that.
Mary perhaps Colin has been lucky enough to have received one of Jack Straw's 'whole life terms'

Mary, we have been married for 38 years and frankly it has gone in a flash. It is almost frightening to see how much of our life together is already in the past.
These days, anyone who manages more than 10 years is doing well! :<wink So congratulations to all those who are still not seeking remission........

Congratulations to you all!!!!
Perhaps the secret is having a regular fix of sunny Florida, I know it always makes us feel great and makes us very humble.
We too celebrated 25 years last year and spent a few days down in the Keys to celebrate, very romantic!!!!
