Universal Studios is one of two Universal theme parks the other being Islands of Adventure. This park is more to do movie production and the rides reflect that fact such as, Jaws, Twister, Men in Black and so on.
It is a well laid out park that surrounds a lake. Some of the areas are themed with streets based on New York and San Francisco another themed area is Amity, that bears a resemblance to a small New England beach resort that houses the Jaws ride and some typical street stalls like throwing rings over prizes and a coconut shy amongst others. Some of the newer attractions like the Simpsons Ride have replaced some of the older attractions. Gone is Back to the Future, that gave way to the Simpsons. The old King Kong ride was replaced by the Revenge of the Mummy.
Work is under way to introduce probably the only thrill ride, apart from the Mummy, in the park Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is a new roller coaster that has some pretty unique features, like being able to choose your music for your ride and being able to pick up the DVD of your experience. Most of the rides in Universal Studios are pretty tame family orientated rides some though may be a little intense for small children. Such as Jaws, Twister and the Mummy. Overall it is a great day out for the whole family and there is something for everyone. Here are just some of the rides not already mentioned. ET adventure, Barney, Woody Woodpecker coaster, Shrek 4D, Terminator 2 3D, Disaster (the old Earthquake ride) and more.
