When we experienced Disaster! at Universal Studios, I was completely intrigued during the segment where we watch director Frank Kincaid (Christopher Walken) move across the stage and around props and even interact with a live actor. It was quite amazing and I just couldn't figure it out! Well, with a little internet searching, I found out that this illusion was created using an old magician's trick coupled with some modern day technology. It's called "musion" and it involves projecting an image on a window that is placed diagonally across the stage. The whole scene is created through special lighting and reflection. Though this type of projection has been used for decades, Disaster! currently boasts the largest permanent installation in the world.

That sounds amazing Patty, it is in the old "Earthquake" building isn't it? Earthquake was getting a bit past it's sell by date but it looks like they have revamped it well! :)

That's correct Steve - it is the old Earthquake attraction. They kept some of the elements from the old attraction changing the theme. I thought it was very well done.

Sounds good Patty. We want to go to Universal next time we are there. It has been a long time since we have been to Universal

Is that the one where you are in a subway and lots of water comes in? Or have they changed it completely?

It's mostly the pre-show and the theme that has changed - the whole earthquake bit in the subway with the water and all is still the same.

Oh that's good. We always enjoyed this - especially when the water came rushing in.
