Have you ever thought you would like to have a crack at driving a race car? Well there are several options open to you in and around Orlando.
Richard Petty Driving Experience
There is the Richard Petty Driving Experience operated at the Walt Disney World Speedway which is fine but if you really want to have some "bragging rights" then do it at Daytona Speedway. They operate there too. Prices range from around $500 plus tax which gets your hands are on the wheel, your foot is on the gas, and you're in the driver's seat for 8 laps around the 31° banked turns of the historic 2.5 mile Daytona International Speedway in NASCAR style racecar that roars with 600 horsepower. to around $2000 + tax which will give you 24 laps of white-knuckled, heart pounding speed around Daytona. Taming this 2.5 mile historic speedway in 3 driving segments allows you to improve your driving line, increase your speed and encourage the idea that you may change careers with this, the ultimate Daytona Experience.
Speedzone Thrill Park Daytona
This is just across the road from the speedway at 201 Fentress Boulevard. They have 3 go cart tracks as well as an awesome drag car strip. These cars are gas powered and run on a rail. Once strapped into the car you watch a series of yellow lights and then hit the throttle the acceleration is great and about halfway down the track you have to hit a gear change button on the steering wheel to complete your acceleration. The car automatically brakes at the end and is pulled back to the start. Average time to complete the run is about 3.5 seconds. The cost is around $20 for 2 runs. Great fun!
Geforce Old Town
This is a similar idea to the one at Daytona, except the propulsion system is compressed air rather than a proper engine, it is still great fun and they claim that you go from 0 -130 in 2 seconds! The cost for this is around $40 for 2 runs.
