We enjoyed our first visit to Aquatica recently. It is very different from Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach, and appears much smaller, but my kids (both adults) really enjoyed it. There is a great area for children called Walkabout Waters with numerous slides and lots of things to climb.

I don't like water rides, generally, but I was hooked on Roa's Rapids, a variation on a lazy river. You have to wear a lifejacket and once in the water you it just relax and it propels you along, past water fountains and geysers. It was brilliant, and as warm as a bath.

When we went there were few queues for rides, but on the whole there are fewer things to do than at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach. There was plenty of seating, and if you needed shade you could sit under huge umbrellas, although there is less tropical planting for shade than at Typhoon Lagoon, for example, although this is a relatively new park and it will obviously mature as the trees and shrubs become more established.

Definitely worth a visit!

This is a photo of Roa's Rapids. It is beautifully landscaped and very clean, with lots of water features to get you wet (or avoid!). There are two entrances, where you can get on or off.

When you enter the rapids you can pick up a life-jacket to wear. They are very lightweight, come in all different sizes, and really do help to keep you afloat. They are really colourful, aren't they?

The landscaping is very beautiful, and when mature should make this a very stunning park.

Here are some photos of Walkabout Waters. It looked great fun - I was tempted to kidnap a couple of children just so that I could go on it! <:lol Sadly there was no way I could pass my 21 and 25 year olds off as being under 6's (well, except when they had tantrums....<:wink)

Watch this bucket. It fills up gradually then begins to tip and...............whoosh, it empties itself all over you! Brilliant!
